Design and Styling
Design Concept
The Redstone 550 follows a modern technical design language with strongly defined fenders, integrated protective structures and a compact, high-clearance stance. The visual concept combines utility-oriented packaging with a more distinctive, premium off-road identity than is typical in the displacement class.
Visual Identity and Proportions
The „short“ version namely the Redstone 550 has a 1300 mm wheelbase, wide track dimensions and 305 mm ground clearance, the Redstone 550 is proportioned to balance maneuverability and terrain clearance. The overall package benefits of a short, planted stance suited to mixed off-road, towing and access-road use. Emphasize lays on the high-strength, lightweight body concept based on chromium-molybdenum steel and forged aluminum components.
Lighting Design
The model is equipped with Matrix layout LED lighting. This model is equipped with an automotive-grade matrix layout LED system intended to support both visual identity and effective illumination for low-light operation.
Color Variants
The Redstone 550 is listed in Furious Orange, Polar Night Black, Dessert Yellow and Rime Silver.
Ergonomics and Riding Experience
Rider Ergonomics
The Redstone 550 uses a conventional ATV upright riding position with a broad handlebar and centralized lower-body support for standing or seated control. The seat height is specified at 950 mm, supporting a commanding view of the terrain. The steering system is assisted by tri-mode EPS, which is devided into Sport, Standard and Work, allowing steering support to be adapted to maneuvering, general riding or firmer-feedback situations.
Passenger / Utility Use
As a 2-seat ATV in, the Redstone 550 supports passenger use in addition to utility transport tasks. Front and rear rack capacities are specified at 35 kg and 50 kg respectively, which supports light load transport alongside dual-seat operation.
Riding Character
The Redstone 550 is defined by a broad, usable operating range rather than a sport-focused character. Standard, Work and Sport riding modes are available for individual use case scenarios. In practice, this supports a split character: controlled low-speed operation for work or towing, and a more direct response setting for recreational riding.
The short wheelbase variant Redstone 550 compared to its longer sibling the Redstone 550 R2 is more agile and nimble to ride. The more compact wheelbase results in a smaller turning radius and can benefit seasoned pilots in difficult offrad terrains.
Engine
Engine Architecture
The Redstone 550 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke SOHC V2 engine with EFI. The BD500AU platform engine uses an aluminum construction, a bore × stroke of 72.0 × 61.2 mm, and an 11.5:1 compression ratio. The EFL + ETCS fuel-injection / throttle control system is an Intelligent Electronic Throttle enabling controlled power delivery and the ride mode adaption.
Engine Character
The Redstone 550 is rated at 31.3 kW (42.6 PS) at 8,000 rpm and 41.3 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The engine can be portraited as one of the most powerful and at the same time smooth engines in its class. Thanks to the V2 twin layout a high level of torque is available without the increased vibration levels of a single cylinder. Using this as a differentiating feature of the Redstone 550, emphasizing smooth running, low-speed torque and reduced vibration perception. Further details include low-tension piston ring design for reduced friction and lower fuel consumption, as well as an air-guided thermal-management concept intended to support cooling consistency and engine durability.
Transmission and Drivetrain
Transmission
The Redstone 550 uses a CVT transmission with L/H/N/R/P positions, a continuously variable transmission layout. Low range, L range should be used for prolonged low-speed operation, towing, heavy loads and obstacle crossing in order to reduce belt stress and extend CVT service life. Transmission ratios are 6.8 in L, 3.3 in H and 5.4 in reverse. Reverse speed is limited to 30 km/h.
Drive System
The drivetrain offers selectable 2WD and 4WD. 2WD as rear-wheel drive for general roads and higher-speed use, while 4WD is intended for mud, uneven terrain and descents where improved traction and stability are required. The drive train modes are electrically engageable, the are supported by a front and rear differential lock activatable via the handlebar switchcube.
Final Drive
The transmission type is a shaft drive for the BD500AU platform. This is a valuable addition because it identifies the Redstone 550 as a durability-focused utility ATV rather than a chain-driven recreational platform.
Chassis
Frame
Redstone structure uses high-strength chromium-molybdenum steel and forged aluminum, with a high load-bearing capacity. That positioning supports the Redstone 550’s intended role as a utility-capable ATV with higher structural reserves than a basic entry model.
Suspension
The Redstone 550 is specified with double A-arm front suspension with stabilizer and double A-arm rear suspension, 230 mm front travel and 220 mm rear travel, plus adjustable gas shock absorbers. The shock absorbers are adjustable in compression, rebound and pre-load. Anti-roll stabilisation further increases the riding stability especially for higher speeds on open roads.
Wheels and Tires
The Redstone 550 is equipped with 14-inch alloy beadlock wheels and 26 × 9-14 front / 26 × 11-14 rear tires. Locked via a 4 × 136 mm wheel bolt pattern. The 14-inch wheel construction is a multi-piece aluminum alloy wheel with anti-strip ring, which allows customers to run very low tire pressure at a minimum risk of debedding the tire from the rim.
Braking System
Front Brake
The Redstone 550 uses hydraulic disc brakes at the front. A dual 220 mm disc brakes.
Rear Brake
Rear braking is also hydraulic disc-based with dual 220 mm disc brakes. A hydraulic parking-brake is operated by the left mechanical brake lever. Additionally a parking position for the transmission in P is available.
Brake System
In the T3B homologation included is a ABS system. ABS is activated at all times and cannot be turned off by the user.
